Continued stories: Another area where child soldiers are located is Sudan. Specifically, southern Sudan. In Sudan the SPLA has been trying for many years to abolish child soldiers. Youth ranges from 12-18 and after the soldiers are out of the army, they will go several different therapy sessions to get rid of the war experiences the children may have had. The SPLA has passed a law stating that all child soldiers must return home if found less than 18 years of age.

Even more child soldiers are located in Somalia. Children as young as ten are becoming soldiers that must face horrific abuse in a country that is already in war. The terrorist group called Al-Shabaab that uses children to help them in their army and have been reported to have broken into schools to gather more children and supplies for their army. After they had taken the children they brought them to a camp where they learned to use guns and if they refused they threatened to be shot. Children as young as ten years old had gone through this procedure some did not make it out alive.

The last place where child soldiers are large in Africa is Chad. In Chad, specifically eastern Chad, there thousands of child soldiers being used in war. The children who are mostly boys are being used as cooks, messengers and in squads of people active in battle. Many children are being taken out of the army by authorities to go to school and live a normal life. Some children that go to the army are either abducted or go to avenge an ancestor that had previously been killed in battle. They are often tortured and forced to do drugs such as smoking, drinking, IV, or marijuana.
